HK Models' 1/48 scale Avro Lancaster B Mk.I depicts Britain's most famous heavy bomber, which played a key role in the Allied strategic bombing campaign during World War II. The Lancaster B Mk.I was the first operational variant of this aircraft and from 1942 dominated the RAF's night raids against industrial centres and military targets in Nazi Germany.
The aircraft was capable of carrying up to 6,350 kg of bomb load, including the special heavy bombs Tallboy (5,443 kg) and Grand Slam (10,000 kg), which were used against fortified targets. The Lancaster Mk.I took part in key operations such as the Battle of Hamburg, the attacks on Berlin, the raid on Peenemünde and was not missed in Operation Chastise, when 617. RAF squadron used special "bouncing bombs" to attack German dams.
