Product details
Before the Second World War, the British Air Ministry called for a cannon-armed fighter, and Westland answered with the twin-engined Whirlwind. More than a hundred were built before a shortage of Peregrine engines ended production. Whirlwinds flew fighter and ground attack missions over the English Channel; those fitted with bomb racks were designated FB Mk.I, and they served until Typhoons replaced them in 1944.
The kit comes on two styrene sprues plus one clear sprue, with 3D-printed parts, resin details and photo-etched parts. Decals cover four schemes: two in the earlier green and brown camouflage and two in the later green and grey, revised against newer reference material.
